Fair greetings to you intrepid readers!
*Sound of shuffling feet while author hangs 'FREE BOOKS' sign.
Get ready to stock up your e-readers before your upcoming winter breaks—the Smashwords Winter Sale is nearly here! All participating ebooks will be 25% to 100% off (yep you read that right, 100% off!), making it the perfect moment to grab free and deeply-discounted ebooks, explore new genres, and discover emerging indie authors!
Speaking of indie authors...(that was smooth, wasn't it?) If you’re a fan of historical fiction, particularly (*clears throat) Viking Age love stories, the Anglo-Saxon period of British history, or any other types of epic medieval stories filled with forbidden love and political intrigue (whew that was a mouthful), be sure to check out my own featured ebook, Heart of the Wild Gods, in the sale. It’s an ideal pick for readers who love strong female characters, slow-burn historical romance, and love stories that take the form of immersive, character-driven sagas. If you liked Outlander or The Last Kingdom, you'll like this too. And best of all, I believe it will be priced at the equivalent of about three sips of a Starbucks coffee.
And if that's not your thing? No worries! There is an entire bookstore at your disposal. If you're a reader, you absolutely will find something in this sale—the possibilities are limitless! This link takes you to my own book's page, but have a browse around! Earmark a few so that you're ready to rock once the sale hits!
The sale begins on the 8th of December, and runs until the new year.
For those of you with voracious literary appetites who delight in unlimited free books, I also have a great option for you to consider. If you enjoy reading new books by indie authors (both before and after they've been released), you might consider signing up as an ARC reader (ARC = advanced reader copy. You already knew that, but I have to say it anyway.)
The purpose of ARC programs is to give new works a leg-up in the review process, which helps us as authors learn about our readership, improve the arcs of our stories, push our work out into the world...everything, really.
I currently have a new link to share with you where you can sign up, completely for free, to be an ARC reader on Reedsy. Even if my own historical Viking Age romantic saga is not your thing, you can still sign up and paw-through the extensive works in the submission pool and apply to review any of the books on the platform once you're accepted!

Reedsy authors are constantly churning-out titles that draw me in—I have been amassing them in my TBR (to be read) list, and as it stands I probably would not need to go anywhere else for reading material until I'm at least 104 years old. Another plus—I believe the Reedsy platform monetizes the process for reviewers who apply and are accepted, so if you love to read, get in there and get paid! My book will officially launch on the platform in ten days time, on December 11th, 2025, but you can use this link to apply to be a reviewer any time!
If you have not yet joined the mailing list, you can do so here — be the first to hear about new releases and special discounts!
Happy reading everyone!
